draft storyboard ...

What is the purpose of the website

White Space – “read between the lines”

A website which aims to explore the “unimportant” spaces generally considered as unimportant.

Attempt to portray the importance of the spaces in between as the concrete element which holds all things together.

A place between imgination and reality, A portal where dreams and imagination is brought to life.

Aesthetics:

My initial thoughts for the website was a “crispy clean” sort of look. I want things to look quiet artistic and sophisticated. An elegance

exploring ideas

I was thinking of ideas on how I should go about creating my website. My problem was I had a lot of interesting random concepts, but no one solid concept which held them all together.

Random Ideas & Site Concepts:
  • Read Between the lines: the spaces in between

  • Objects float as if in space: Spacify

  • Boxed in: inclosed spaces

  • Let's go Minimal: minimalistic spaces

Overall, I want to somehow find one solid theme which these above concepts fall under. At the moment I am thinking of the Spaces in Between - this would be the main concept and the other ideas I had would act as the pages within the site. All sub-concepts would relate to the main one however, for example, the inner-page focusing on Boxed In would explore the spaces in between inclosed spaces.

The purpose of the site would be to explore my idea of Spaces in Between as the spaces which we do not consider at all, such as the air in the box, the cracks in the edges, and through use of imagination depict the possibilities they may incompass. The site will act like portals into fantastical worlds.

The idea came about when I was daydreaming one day and thought to myself "imagine if there was another world that makes the world we live in how it is?". Little occurences which we don't see. The empty space from one object to another seems empty to the human-eye. But is it really? Sort of an exlporation into the possibilities of what occurs when we are not looking. The concept to me right now seems a bit wishy washy in the sense that there are an infinite amount of possibilitites I could do with this. But I think to make this work well it will all rely on the navigation method I chose from one page to another.

I want the site to be extremely interactive so that the viewer will stay and discover more as they delve into the site.

admire to inspire

I came across some wonderfull websites randomly searching the web to get my brain ticking.

Filippa Smedhagen Sund

This one website which I fumbled across had a navigation feature that I liked where dragging and sliding up, down, left and right allowed you to discover more images within the site. This meant there was no structure what so ever and was strictly up to the viewer as to what was seen. It got a little bit annoying and confusing after a while though.

I also found some photographs taken for the fashion magazine Clear Magazine which were featured on the Filippa Smedhagen Sund website. The images depict great use of space which inspired some ideas for my site.

Coca Cola Remix Art Gallery

I particularly loved the loading page of this website. The site itself simply showcases a collection of images designed by leading artists and designers for Coca Cola.

Nike Air Campaign

The nikeair campaign which I came across at the Big Spaceship website was one which I particularly loved. You chose to either 'Run on air' or 'Ball on air' and through keyboard input the viewer gets to interact and visually create their own world as they run.

I particularly liked the motion effects of the background as well as the aesthical appeal of the site itself. The site gave me some possibilites of how I can include movement within my site during the transition from one page to the next.
